PTE Read aloud sample and tips – Speaking section

PTE Read aloud sample and tips – Speaking section

PTE read aloud is a high priority question for the exam. All you have to do is read out a given text. Here are a few tips to help you improve this section:

  1. Make sure to use the 40 sec preparation time.

Before you start recording your read aloud answer you always get a 40 second time to prepare the passage. This preparation time is crucial, you can familiarise with the passage and the tough words.

  1. Speed

Students are clueless when it comes to the speed to read the passage. You do not want to be too fast because it could affect the pronunciation and could do damage. You don’t want to be slow either because at times you might not finish the task, at the same time it would affect fluency throughout.

  1. Fluency

Always keep in mind fluency is important element for read aloud questions. Keep in mind fluency means quick, reading the text accurately. Never skip words during read aloud questions, as you must be aware, they are one of the highest scoring questions in PTE.

  1. Build up a reading habit.

Reading magazines, newspapers, books, even blogs could help immensely. This would let you build up vocabulary, learn new words, read with fluency, and easier to approach read aloud.

  1. Practice makes it better.

It is basic to all that with practice you can develop skills. Reading habit is one as mentioned above, the other one is you can use online PTE training websites to get an image of how you are improving.

  1. Avoid Repeating

Another major tip to follow is, never stop reading in between and repeat to correct yourself. That always affects the marking scheme and result.

  1. Timing

Always finish on time. Do not stay without speaking for more than 3 seconds because the recording will automatically stop move on to the next question.

Here are a couple of samples for you to try out:

  1. Drug Overdose Deaths

The slight decline in drug overdose deaths in 2018 coincides with Chinese regulations on the powerful opioid carfentanil, rather than the result of domestic U.S. efforts to curb the epidemic, a new analysis reveals. What many — including President Donald Trump — perceived as a decline in overdose deaths in 2018, appears to be a return to the historic exponential curve.”

  1. Injury or Disease

Injury or disease that afflicts a relatively small number of brain cells causes a chain reaction that stops activity across a vast network of neural circuits, according to new research. The study may help to explain why people can suffer from temporary but severe loss of cognitive function in cases of traumatic brain injury or disease.

  1. Superhighway Network

Researchers have discovered a new superhighway network to travel through the Solar System much faster than was previously possible. Such routes can drive comets and asteroids near Jupiter to Neptune’s distance in under a decade and to 100 astronomical units in less than a century. They could be used to send spacecraft to the far reaches of our planetary system relatively fast, and to monitor and understand near-Earth objects that might collide with our planet.

Keep practicing every day at least half an hour, follow the tips given and you should be confident enough to attempt the real test. If you are seeking for help, our doors are always open, contact us Wings Education Brisbane. More about PTE here.
