The important thing we should know about the IELTS academic writing tasks before preparing them is the test information. The time given for the writing tasks 2 is 40 minutes, and you should write at least over 250 words. In terms of scoring, this contributes toa approximately about 66% of the overall scoring in writing. However, the important thing is linking in the paragraphs logically to show the reader that you logically connect your ideas with the opening statement, explanations and example, moreover, make connections between the paragraph to ensure that paragraphs are very well discussed in relation to the context. Try to stick between two or three body paragraphs, so that you could provide enough supporting points and wide range of words rather being so repetitive by searching for ideas or words.

Before starting your essay, do some brain storming and take a note of important key words that will be used in the essay. This will ensure the flow of essay without much trouble. Moreover, try to use proper linking words to connect your points. The linking words differ based on the contextual relationship between two sentences. For instance. for contradictory statement using however, and so on.

Secondly, master the structure in terms of how to provide opening statement to example for the different types of essays. Most importantly, good introduction is very important as it gives the reader good impression about your language, for good introduction, understand the question prompt, paraphrasing it without diluting the context is significant. ‘

The definition of paraphrasing is all about expressing someone’s idea in your own language without diluting its meaning. In IELTS, paraphrasing is the key for success in writing section. For instance, the essay topic will be given to you and in the introductory paragraph, based on the question prompt, you need to rewrite that in your own words. The quality of writing reflects how well you have understood the question. In the introductory paragraph it is important to write the context of question information and in the following paragraphs, you need to emphasize the key details, however, without repeatedly using the same words and sentence structure.

So, the students must learn the paraphrasing techniques for different question types to effectively introduce the essay topic and logically connect and sequence the ideas throughout the essay.

Most importantly, practice a lot because when you practice a essay of different types, and on different topics, the idea generation in exam, sentence planning to put your ideas and making a logical connection between the lines and paragraphs would be easy in exam. Whenever, you practice, do proof reading as a mandatory step as will help to do the final minute editing and corrections.
