PTE Exam Tips and Tricks | That You Need to Know About

As we all know PTE is a computer-based test, which assess our language ability in different area of English, it is significantly different from IELTS and other language test. Hence, it is very important for test-takers to understand the PTE specific tips and tricks to enhance our score. Even for the people with good language skills, this understanding will provide an edge and save your preparation time. In this blog, we will discuss some of the tested techniques to help you in PTE exam.

Firstly, before start preparing, the test takers must understand how the scoring works. For that you need to have glance at the type of tasks in each section including speaking, writing, reading and listening. Get an overview of how each task in the different sections contribute to the overall scores and what abilities will be tested in the different tasks. For instance, PTE assess you for enabling skills and content. The enabling skills include pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, spellings and written discourse. Knowing the weightage, flow of exam and assessment criteria is a platform to start out preparation, most importantly, we could establish a schedule for practicing based on Strength, weakness and expected target score.

The third section is reading, use step by step approach to reading rather being overwhelmed with the context. Practice skimming and scanning, brush up your basic grammars, improve your comprehension skills, and increase your success rate applying the tips and practice. Most importantly, work on your time management to avoid stress during your exam.

For listening, improve your note taking skill and same as in writing, spelling is very important because there are certain tasks, which will give partial score for writing. Hence, practice spelling while doing tasks such as Fill in the Blanks and summary, make a list of words for yourself to be confident in spellings. Further, do not spend much time on low scoring tasks as relative scoring is very low for tasks such as multiple choices and Select missing word. Understand the time management so that you complete this section within the given time.

Take sample tests before making a real attempt and this will help you to have a better stress and time management during exam.

Exam day tips

Relax and have plenty of rest before exam as it needs complete three hours of focus. If you are over stretched just before the exam date, you might not able to focus, so sleep well and be physically and mentally ready for the test. Reach the exam centre to get used to the exam day environment if you are fist time test taker as some formalities needs to be done.
